THE FARMS
Organic Rice
The organic Farms suppliyng paddy rice to WBT are 82; groupped in regional Associations, each one of them must meet the following requirements:
• each farm must cover more than 50 hectares
• all cultivations must undergo crop rotation
• spring water must satisfy the farm’s need
• each farm must register with the Italian Minister of Agriculture, and register with an Organic Certifying Control Body recognized by IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements). It must also produce in conformity to the EEC reg. 834/2007
• the paddy rice must be dried using indirect heat
• after the harvest the paddy rice is analyzed by WBT to ensure the absence of chemical residues
• each farm is subject to 2 or 3 unannounced visits by the Organic Certifying Body
